Industrial systems do not forgive downtime: stopping SCADA means stopping the production line. Servers for industrial automation are assembled with dual power supplies, RAID, ECC, and a 7–10 year service life, while OS and driver versions are locked to the system vendor's requirements.
Full redundancy: dual power supplies on different circuits, RAID1/10, ECC memory, IPMI for remote diagnostics. Plus compatibility with industrial software, which often requires specific versions of Windows Server and SQL.
