What the internet speed test shows
The test measures four values. Together they describe how comfortable your internet is for watching video, calling, gaming and sending files.
Download speed
How fast data reaches you: opening websites, video, downloading files. The headline number of your plan, in Mbps.
Upload speed
How fast data leaves you: video calls, sending photos, cloud backups, streaming.
Ping
Delay to the server in milliseconds. The lower it is, the faster games, calls and websites respond.
Jitter
How much the ping fluctuates. High jitter means robotic voice on calls and stutter in games.
How to test your internet speed correctly
The result depends not only on your provider but also on how you are connected. To measure your plan rather than the Wi-Fi in the next room, do this.
- Get close to the routerCable is best. On Wi-Fi only, stand next to the router and pick the 5 GHz network.
- Stop downloadsPause torrents, updates, cloud sync and video on other devices at home.
- Press GO 2–3 timesTake the average. Repeat in the evening: many providers are slower at peak hours.

Internet in Kazakhstan: what counts as normal
Speed depends mostly on the connection type. Fiber to the apartment (GPON, FTTB) from Kazakhtelecom, Transtelecom, Beeline and other providers usually delivers 100 to 1000 Mbps, with ping to servers in Almaty and Astana around 5–20 ms.
Mobile 4G from Beeline, Kcell and Activ, Tele2 and Altel typically shows tens of megabits per second in cities, and noticeably less at peak hours and outside town. 5G in Almaty, Astana and Shymkent delivers hundreds of megabits where there is coverage.
Old phone-line connections (ADSL) rarely exceed 10–20 Mbps. If your plan promises more and the test shows less, the cause is often the line or the router rather than the provider.
Why your speed is lower than your plan
- Wi-Fi. Walls, neighbouring networks and an old router standard can eat up to half the speed. A cable shows your real plan.
- Router. Budget models top out at 100 Mbps on the port or Wi-Fi, even on a 500 Mbps plan.
- Peak hours. In the evening the provider network is busier, especially on mobile.
- VPN and proxy. Traffic goes through a distant server, ping rises and speed drops.
- Device. An old phone or laptop may simply not handle high speeds.
Frequently asked questions about internet speed tests
How many Mbps is a normal speed?
For one person 20–30 Mbps is enough: HD video, calls and websites work without delays. A family with several devices and 4K video is more comfortable from 100 Mbps.
What is ping and what is a good ping?
Ping is the time a signal takes to reach the server and come back. Under 20 ms is excellent, 20–50 ms is good for games and calls, over 100 ms is noticeable in games and video calls.
Why do different tests show different speeds?
Tests measure to different servers in different ways. Our test measures to the nearest Cloudflare node over several streams, so the result is close to what you get on real websites and services.
How do I test Kazakhtelecom, Beeline or Kcell internet speed?
Just press GO: the test detects your provider from your connection. For mobile data turn off Wi-Fi on your phone; for home internet connect to your router.
How much data does the test use?
It depends on your speed: about 80 MB at 50 Mbps and about 150 MB at 100 Mbps. On very fast connections the test is capped at roughly 400 MB. Keep this in mind on a small mobile data plan.
Is the test safe to use?
Yes. The test downloads and uploads random data; your files and personal information are never sent. Test history is stored only in your browser.
What if my speed is always below my plan?
Test over cable, restart the router and repeat at different times of day. If the cable speed is still well below your plan, save the results and contact your provider support.
Does the test work on a phone?
Yes, on iPhone and Android in any browser. The page is designed for phones as carefully as for desktop.
