Base your calculations on the sum of VM resources plus 20% for the hypervisor. Best practice: 4–6 light VMs per physical core, memory without oversubscription. A host with 2× Xeon Gold and 256 GB of RAM reliably handles 25–40 small business VMs. Memory runs out before cores — choose a platform with extra DDR4/DDR5 slots.
For Kazakhstan in 2026, Proxmox is the most popular choice: it is free, supports live migration, snapshots, and avoids sanction risks related to licensing.
