How to choose: answering the main questions
What is more important for a game server?
Core frequency of 3.5+ GHz, NVMe, and memory: one Minecraft world with 100 players consumes 1–2 fast cores and 8–16 GB of RAM. Hosting providers slice such platforms into dozens of game instances.
How many instances per server?
CS2/Valheim-type: 20–40 instances per platform with 24+ fast cores and 128 GB RAM. Use container isolation and limits — otherwise, one 'heavy' world will ruin the ping for everyone.
DDoS protection?
Gaming projects are target number one: we host them in data centers with L3/L4 filtering and configure rules for game protocols.
