Exchange itself is a solved problem. What takes weeks is agreeing how items, attributes, units and price types in 1C map onto the site.
Skipping this produces the familiar result: half the catalogue arrives without images, units are wrong and prices belong to another price type. Cleaning the reference books is part of the project, not a separate favour.
What happens when the exchange fails
It must be noticed the same day.
An exchange that stops silently is worse than no exchange: the site keeps selling from a snapshot that is quietly getting older.

Usually on a schedule, which is enough. Real time is rarely necessary and costs more — we will say so honestly.

What about existing duplicates in 1C?
They have to be cleaned before launch, otherwise the integration will cement the mess instead of removing it.
